Lakeland Linder International Airport – Committed to Safety First

At Lakeland Linder International Airport (LAL), safety is not just a priority but the foundation of everything we do. Our Safety Management System (SMS) implements a structured and proactive approach to identifying, assessing, and managing safety risks across all airport operations. This system ensures that safety is embedded in our daily decision-making, planning, and performance.

LAL’s SMS follows the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) framework and aligns with global aviation safety standards. It is founded on four essential components:

1. Safety Policy

We are committed to fostering a strong safety culture that empowers all employees, tenants, and stakeholders to report hazards and participate in safety improvements. Our policies clearly define safety roles, responsibilities, and accountability at every organizational level.

2. Safety Risk Management

Our team continuously identifies potential hazards and analyzes risks to prevent accidents and incidents. Whether concerning runway operations, maintenance activities, or airfield construction, we assess every procedure to ensure that the highest safety standards are maintained.

3. Safety Assurance

LAL employs performance monitoring tools, conducts audits, and analyzes data to ensure that safety practices are practical and compliant with regulatory standards. When improvements are necessary, corrective actions are implemented promptly and monitored until completion.

4. Safety Promotion

Training, communication, and collaboration are key to building and maintaining an effective SMS. We encourage open dialogue and continuous learning to enhance safety awareness throughout the airport community.
